Dr. Labib: Well, I'll tell you something. The Jews corrupted
the Old Testament. And the Christians corrupted the New Testament.
Then the Quran is at fault. Why do I say that? Because the Quran,
in many, many verses, indicates that the Bible is inspired by God.
Listen, we read that in the Quran, in surat Al Maida surat 5,
verses 43, 44, "How can they choose you, Mohammed? When
they had the Torah [this is the Old Testament] which contained God's
judgments?" We have sent down the Torah containing guidance
and light." The Quran is saying that the Old Testament was
sent by God, containing guidance and light. How could it be corrupted?
Is God unable to protect His work? Will He give a book and leave
it to us to play with, to corrupt it, to fabricate? How could it
be?
Again, we read again in the very same surat, verse 46-47,
"and had Jesus, the son of Mary, follow in their footsteps
in order to confirm what had come before him." From the Torah,
Jesus confirmed the Old Testament. And we gave him, Jesus, the gospel,
which contains guidance and the light, to confirm what he already
had in the Old Testament, and as guidance and lessons for those
who do their duty. Let the people of the gospel. judge by what God
has sent in it. Those who do not judge by what God has sent down,
are perverse." Now, it is very clear that God gave the gospel
to Jesus Christ, and He commanded the followers of Jesus Christ
to obey the gospel. Obey a book that would be corrupted? Obey a
fabricated book? Use your brain! How could this be? See, the Quran
is very clear. The Torah came from God, the Old Testament. The gospel
came from God, the New Testament. How could it be corrupted then?
And then, we read again, that the Quran said to Mohammed, in surat
Youniss and this is surat 10, "if you are in doubt, Mohammed,
about the revelation, we are sending to you. Ask those who read
the Bible before you." You see? The Bible is the standard for
the Quran, not vice-versa. You know, it says, "Mohammed, if
you are in doubt about the revelation, I am giving to you,"
and the spirit is saying, "Ask those who read the book, the
Bible." If Mohammed has to ask the Jews, and the Christians
about the reality of the revelation he had received, how could it
be corrupted? To say that the Bible is corrupted is to say that
God is a weak God, is an ignorant God, is a God who cannot protect
His work. And that is, of course, out of order. The Bible was never
corrupted. Never, ever corrupted.

The Quran: Al Maida
5: 43-44

YUSUFALI: But why do they come to thee for decision, when they have
(their own) law before them?- therein is the (plain) command of
Allah; yet even after that, they would turn away. For they are not
(really) People of Faith.
PICKTHAL: How come they unto thee for judgment when they have the
Torah, wherein Allah hath delivered judgment (for them)? Yet even
after that they turn away. Such (folk) are not believers.
SHAKIR: And how do they make you a judge and they have the Taurat
wherein is Allah's judgment? Yet they turn back after that, and
these are not the believers.

YUSUFALI: It was We who revealed the law (to Moses): therein was
guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by
the prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah's will, by the rabbis
and the doctors of law: for to them was entrusted the protection
of Allah's book, and they were witnesses thereto: therefore fear
not men, but fear me, and sell not my signs for a miserable price.
If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed,
they are (no better than) Unbelievers.
PICKTHAL: Lo! We did reveal the Torah, wherein is guidance and a
light, by which the prophets who surrendered (unto Allah) judged
the Jews, and the rabbis and the priests (judged) by such of Allah's
Scripture as they were bidden to observe, and thereunto were they
witnesses. So fear not mankind, but fear Me. And My revelations
for a little gain. Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath revealed:
such are disbelievers.
SHAKIR: Surely We revealed the Taurat in which was guidance and
light; with it the prophets who submitted themselves (to Allah)
judged (matters) for those who were Jews, and the masters of Divine
knowledge and the doctors, because they were required to guard (part)
of the Book of Allah, and they were witnesses thereof; therefore
fear not the people and fear Me, and do not take a small price for
My communications; and whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed,
those are they that are the unbelievers.

YUSUFALI: And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary,
confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel:
therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that
had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear
Allah.
PICKTHAL: And We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow in their footsteps,
confirming that which was (revealed) before him in the Torah, and
We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light, confirming
that which was (revealed) before it in the Torah - a guidance and
an admonition unto those who ward off (evil).
SHAKIR: And We sent after them in their footsteps Isa, son of Marium,
verifying what was before him of the Taurat and We gave him the
Injeel in which was guidance and light, and verifying what was before
it of Taurat and a guidance and an admonition for those who guard
(against evil).

YUSUFALI: Let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah hath
revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what
Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel.
PICKTHAL: Let the People of the Gospel judge by that which Allah
hath revealed therein. Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath
revealed: such are evil-livers.
SHAKIR: And the followers of the Injeel should have judged by what
Allah revealed in it; and whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed,
those are they that are the transgressors.
The Quran: Yunus
10:37

YUSUFALI: This Qur'an is not such as can be produced by other than
Allah; on the contrary it is a confirmation of (revelations) that
went before it, and a fuller explanation of the Book - wherein there
is no doubt - from the Lord of the worlds.
PICKTHAL: And this Qur'an is not such as could ever be invented
in despite of Allah; but it is a confirmation of that which was
before it and an exposition of that which is decreed for mankind
- Therein is no doubt - from the Lord of the Worlds.
SHAKIR: And this Quran is not such as could be forged by those besides
Allah, but it is a verification of that which is before it and a
clear explanation of the book, there is no doubt in it, from the
Lord of the worlds.
